I created these to be viewed, they lay out the benefits of hand embroidery, I hope you find this information useful in some way. Feel free to add in the comments what hand embroidery does for you, if you would like to share this.
Hand embroidery means a great deal to me on a personal level. As an autistic person, I experience the world in ways that can often feel overwhelming. Stitching provides a way to regulate, ground myself, and return to a sense of balance.
The calming, rhythmic, and repetitive movements of embroidery help to settle my nervous system. The gentle structure of stitches, the feel of thread passing through fabric, and the quiet focus required all contribute to a sense of calm and safety. It is a practice that allows me to be present in my body and mind.
This is at the heart of why I do what I do.
Hand embroidery, for me, is not about productivity or perfection. It is about presence. It is about allowing time to stretch, hands to move steadily, and thoughts to soften. Embroidery supports my wellbeing, and this blog exists so that I can share that practice, that experience, and the wellbeing it gives me.
